Climate Change Science and Technology Decision Making Mechanism and Low Carbon Path Integration Assessment

Absrtact
The objective of this project is to use the Long-range Energy Alternative Planning System (LEAP), building a comprehensive environmental assessment model in Taiwan. We combine I/O model to simulate regional low-carbon path plan, and conduct regional low-carbon path integration assessment planning, and simulate long-term energy alternative plans for GHG reduction, air quality and health benefits. The low carbon path plan not only entails the integration of energy and resource systems but also embraces the land sink for carbon reduction potentials in adaptive mitigation implementation. The ocean and coastal carbon cycle (e.g., blue carbon) is an important field for carbon capture and storage. This project will choose an independent environmental system to simulate the effect of adaptation potentials for carbon reduction. Land use and cover change (LUCC) can also affect carbon emissions and removals, this project will evaluate the effect of LUCC, aiming at the before-after carbon emission condition in a development zone.
